ecoprint-system4™ : Reduce Emissions

Aim: To reduce or eliminate the emissions of VOC's and other harmful agents from the printing process.

The issues: Emissions of VOC are highlighted by the Trucost/Williams Lea Environmental Report* as the third most important issue with regards the environment for those involved in print production. The biggest culprit within the printing process is the use of IPA (Isopropanolalcohol) on printing presses followed by the use of VOC emitting washes on a lithographic press.

Why ecoprint-system4™?

ecoprint-system4™ drastically reduces the emissions of VOC's through a number of practices. They include:

a] The lithographic presses used have reduced the use of IPA by almost 75% through investment in water filtration and air extraction technologies supported by staff training in the use of low alcohol systems in print production.
b] We use vegetable oil based, low VOC inks as standard
c] We use low VOC washes as standard

Customer benefits from the ecoprint-system4™ emissions policy:

- Reduced IPA purchase and disposal costs give competitive pricing
- A significantly improved health and safety environment leads to lower insurance
costs and therefore more competitive pricing

Fast turn around production

Consistent, high quality print production

Reduced IPA purchase and disposal costs give competitive pricing
A significantly improved health and safety environment leads to lower insurance costs and therefore more competitive pricing.
Improved working conditions leads to the recruitment and retention of better quality staff producing high quality products.
Experienced and knowledgeable staff using low VOC systems producing consistantly high quality products.

Adapting conventional presses to run with low IPA systems can be very difficult to implement but the benefits are well worth the effort including significantly reduced IPA costs, both in terms of purchase and eventual disposal costs. Once implemented though the low VOC systems give greater consistancy and quality due to the new working methodologies. As health and safety also becomes an increasing cost to businesses, the low VOC policy of ecoprint-system4™ has resulted in a decrease in insurance costs which reflects again in competitive pricing.
