Aim: To reduce or eliminate the emissions of VOC's and other harmful agents from the printing process.

The issues: Emissions of VOC are highlighted by the Trucost/Williams Lea Environmental Report* as the third most important issue with regards the environment for those involved in print production. The biggest culprit within the printing process is the use of IPA (Isopropanolalcohol) on printing presses followed by the use of VOC emitting washes on a lithographic press.

Adapting conventional presses to run with low IPA systems can be very difficult to implement but the benefits are well worth the effort including significantly reduced IPA costs, both in terms of purchase and eventual disposal costs.
